This is a no-reserve offering for a very rare and collectible embossed silver plate encased book with a message by Pope Pius XII for the Holy year 1950. The silver cover with clasp acts as a dust cover for the 20 page book. The book measures 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches and is 3/16 of an inch thick. The inside back cover of the book has a color photo of Pope Pius XII. Pope Pius XII ( Latin : Pius PP. XII ), born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli ( March 2 , 1876 âe" October 9 , 1958 ), reigned as the 260th pope , the human head of the Roman Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City , from March 2 , 1939 until his death in 1958.
