REAL Nag Champa incense is one of the most expensive incenses in the world due to the rariety of its ingredients. Real Nag Champa is created using a number of exotic and rare ingredients. The Champaca flower serves as its basis which gives the incense its true rich and unique scent and there are other natural resins and oils which are also included to enhance and prolong its unique fragrance. Mysore sandalwood oil and halmaddi (which is a natural aromatic tree resin) are also very important ingredients. THE CHAMPACA FLOWER The Champaca flower is a very spiritual and sacred plant which is revered in Nepal, India and all over Asia. The champaca flower is sacred to the Hindu God of love 'Kama Deva' and the flower forms one of the tips of his 5 arrows. In the Buddhist context, one tradition says incense first appeared as a mosquito repellent. It seems that during one of the Buddha's sermons a monk heedlessly swatted a mosquito. Horrified, the monk certainly realized how strong is that murderous reaction -- almost a reflex. That slap is said to have drawn the attention of Buddha himself. He ordered that, in the future, incense ought to be lit in order to keep the flies away, so that people could more easily concentrate on Dharma teachings, but also to prevent the needless taking of lives. As a result, t he lighting of incense became customary at teachings and other gatherings.
