Beautiful Adorned Hand-crafted Embossed Glass Vigil Oil Lamp (Kandili) Greek Orthodox We offer light to God because He is the Light! We offer light to the Theotokos and the Saints because they are the light of the world! This stunning hand-crafted red partly opaque glass oil lamp is an asset to every icon corner, altar or iconostasis ! This very special oil-lamp is made of red partly opaque thick glass that has been colored and etched by a special technique; the embossing is of very high quality. The body of the oil lamp has the shape of a cup that becomes narrower at the bottom with a supporting stem. It is adorned with beautiful byzantine crosses and floral designs that are repeated three times around the cup. The internal diameter of the cup at the top is 3 1/4''. The red color on the main body of the lamp is prepared by spraying gold powder on the molten glass. As the glass is cooling down, the minerals in the glass form red-colored species with the gold powder. At this point the beautiful designs are etched on the surface.The oil lamp measures 5 1/4'' in height. The oil lamp you will receive is new. It is, however, fragile and delicate.
