 This is a sterling silver 2 part reliquary containing a 1st Class holy relic of Saint Catherine Laboure, the French nun who has 3 visions of the Virgin Mary in 1830.The Blessed mother instructed her to have the Miraculous Medal struck in her honor, with the words, "O Mary, Conceived without Sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee".The reliquary depicts Saint Catherine in her habit of the Daughter"s of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul on the back cover and the words, "Bse Catherine Laboure". Bse is the abbreviated French word, Bienheureuse, meaning Blessed.She was declared Blessed in 1933, and canonized a saint in 1947. It is hallmarked with the French hallmark of the BOAR, indicating sterling silver.Red silk threads and the wax seal of the Sisters of Charity, are perfect and intact ensuring the authenticity of this relic. Above the holy relic is a label ex ---, see photos. I cannot read it. Beneath the relic is written, B. C. Laboure.Measures 7/8" x 6/8".This relic is from the estate of a well known French Archbishop.
