Created by John Kricfalusi, Ren and Stimpy was one of the first original Nickelodeon animated series along with Rugrats and Doug, and it distinguished itself with its unprecedented adult humor and innuendo for a show geared toward children. The show, though controversial, was met with critical acclaim, and it quickly developed a cult following."
