Two different calibers of lead musket ball excavated at the site of the Battle of Bennington, Vermont. The battle was fought on August 16, 1777 and featured the Hessian troops attached to the British Army and the New England Militia under American General John Stark. The Americans won a major victory as the British lost over 700 troops killed or captured. The Americans fired what is known as a "Buck and a Ball". A large caliber ball and a buck shot size were shoved into the musket barrel and fired for maximum stopping power. Please email with questions and check out my other auctions.
