* * * * * Rock Island Lines Railroad -- Silver Tongs Five-Prong Open-Leaf Style Bowls Silver -- 4 1/4 Inches -- Sugar or Serving Tongs Manufactured by R. Wallace Once used in the silver dining service of The Rock Island Lines Railroad The railroad's name/logo "ROCK-ISLAND-LINES" is impressed on the inside of one tong. The manufacturer's name "R. WALLACE" is impressed on the inside of the other tong. The tongs have a five-prong leaf design in the bowls and a double-lined design on the exterior of each side. * * * * * Measurements: Length = 4 3/8 inches Height of bowls (resting on both tongs) = ~3/4 inch Width/depth (across both tongs) at spring-end = ~7/8 inch Width/depth (across both tongs) at bowls = ~1 1/8 inch Weight = 1 1/8 oz. * * * * * Condition: See The Photos As can be seen in the pictures, the stamped inscriptions of the RR Lines' name and of the manufacturer are clear and distinct. The insides and outsides of the tongs show wear but no damage or corrosion. The tongs are not bent or warped out of shape or balance.
