This sale is for a hard-to-find set (full service for 8+) of Oscar & Edgar Gutherz Porcelain (O.&E.G.). The Gutherz factory was located in Stara Role (Altrohlau), Bohemia. They were in operation for twenty years and imported a wide assortment of white and decorated wares to the United States through importers L. Straus & Sons. This set is marked "O.&E.G., ROYAL, AUSTRIA". The mark was in use from 1898 to 1918. The pattern is known by a number only (OSG6) and contains a Black Greek Key pattern with two slim gold bands of trim, one of each side of the greek key pattern. The set contains the following pieces: (8) Dinner Plates - 9 5/8" (8) Salad Plates - 7 3/4" (8) Bread & Butter Plates - 6 3/8" (8) Coupe Soup Bowls - 8" (8) Berry Bowls - 4 7/8" (8) Cups (8) Saucers (1) Creamer (1) Sugar Bowl w/Lid (1) Round Covered Butter Dish w/Strainer (1) Gravy Boat w/Attached Underplate (1) Round Vegetable Bowl w/Handles - 7 3/4" (this piece appears to have had a lid at one time and is being sold with NO lid, could be very nice for serving potatoes) (1) Oval Covered Vegetable Bowl - 9 1/4" (1) Oval Vegetable Bowl - 9 3/4" (1) Lg Oval Serving Platter - 15 3/4" (1) Oval Serving Platter - 13 3/8" (1) Relish Tray - 8 1/4" FREE EXTRA PIECES INCLUDED: (4) Dinner Plates, (3) Salad Plates, (3) Soup Bowls, (2) Berry Bowls and (4) Saucers. These pieces will come in very handy if replacements are ever needed. Total pieces: 82 Upon inspection of this set remarkably for it's age this set is in excellent shiney surface condition containing only slight wear from short term use and stacking, some of the pieces do not appear to have been in use. The gold trim is in very nice shape and contains slight wear to the outer trim band on some pieces, this was really surprising as the gold trim was always the first to go on these older sets from handling and cleaning. A few of the B & B Plates and one saucer shows some small little cut spots on the base ring they sit on w gels had been ground off after being fired. No Chips, Cracks or Repairs with the exception of the factory gels being ground off a few pieces as listed above (3 B&B and 1 Saucer). This beautiful full set (Service for 8 Plus) of O.&E.G. Bohemian Porcelain would make a stunning display set or to be used on special occasions with your family and friends. A real bonus with this set is all the completer pieces that are included as these are the most costly to add later.
