Circa: 1902 Size: 3.75" - 9.5cm tall. Manufacturer: Royal Doulton These beakers were presented to the guests invited to the official Coronation dinners arranged for the people of London by King Edward VII. The King paid for the beakers and was personally involved in the creation and design of them. The King granted an audience to Mr. Ronald Doulton and was quoted as saying "I want something similar to the one you did for Queen Victoria's Jubilee" making these beakers the only commorative in which the design was approved by the Monarch. Depicted on the front of the beaker within a circular medallion is a fine profile portrait of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandria surmounted by the Imperial State Crown and below a ribbon decoration inscribed "June 1902" On the bottom is the lion and crown, the Royal Doulton trade mark, and registration number 38936. There were two colors for these beakers, one is sepia and the other in purple. This is a great piece - there are no chips, however due to the age it does have crazing through out the entire cup. This
