Lyalin and V. Alexeev The medallion Oberve features a cameo portrait of Peter the Great, who is surrounded by five smaller medallions The outlying medallions feature portraits of Catherine the Great, Paul I, Alexander I, Nicholas I and Alexander II, and they are interspersed with oak branches The Reverse depicts the Consecration of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg (May 30, 1858) It is said that Alexander I commissioned the French architect Auguste Montferrand to build St. Isaac's to replace an earlier structure designed by Antonio Rinaldi It took 40 years to build and was the foremost ecclesiastical building of Imperial Russia This is a private sale ~ I'm not a coin/medal dealer & I do not grade coins Please study the pictures & judge for yourself The coin is 3.625 inches (85 mm) in Diameter Net Weight: 10 5/8 oz - 303 grams The medallion is in VERY GOOD CONDITION with clean impressions to both sides There are some general light marks, scratches and rubbing to edges commensurate with age read more
