SABINO OPALESCENT CRYSTAL RABBIT ~1930's~You are bidding on this glowing art glass rabbit made by Marius Ernest Sabino (France). Etched Sabino France on the bottom. This piece is perfect with no chips or damage at all. The light emanates and fluoresces from within the glass to produce hue of soft blues, yellows and purples that change with the light of the day. This is part of a large collection of Sabino figurines that belonged to a famous New York costume designer who moved to Brattleboro, Vermont later in his life. More than half a century has passed since the production of this style of glass was at its peak. During the twenties and thirties t had been a large group of artificers of glass, among them Rene Lalique, Sabino, Etling, Hunebelle, D'Avesn, Verlys and Jobling. Of these, two emerged as the most prolific and best- Lalique and Sabino.With the onset of the second world war, t were great changes in the techniques of glass production. As the costs of hand produced work escalated, this beautiful glass became a rare part of history and the preserve of collectors. Dimensions: 1 1/4" high x 2" wide
