Hello! Here we have this nice Antique Japanese Lacquer Decorated Lap Desk Ca. 1880's. It has a very beautiful scene and could be inlayed in any number of valuable materials. This came straight from a very high end estate of a deceased Steelcase Founder. There are 3 inner storage compartments. The first on the top is a small depress area that is roughly 11.5" long by 3" wide and 1.5" deep. Then in the middle is a compartment separated into 3 small areas I assume for writing utensils. It is 11.5" long by 1" wide by 3 inches being separated into 3 cells. The final bottom storage area is not felted but the largest area being 11"x 5x and 2.5" at its deepest as it tapers down.
