Salvador Romero's work speaks for itelf. He is a Cochiti Indian artist from the Santa Fe area of New Mexico. His wonderful old style fetish carvings are the most sought after art pieces from the Cochiti pueblo, and his reputation as a master carver is noted worldwide. Salvador carves from stone found on the reservation, and has an amazing ability to see what animal is hiding in the stone and bring it out in his carving. His works range from small to rare large pieces with a price range of between $50.00 and $400.00. Each piece is totally unique, and not carved to a formula. Each stone dictates the finished product,, and they are as varied and individual as each rock. They are truly grounded to the spirit of the animal they represent, and have great significance as objects of art as well as of the Native American view of the Earth. This particular piece is a wonderful and rare elk and has great antlers. This is the best elk I have seen from Salvador ever.
