Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. 1 5/8" diameter, 2" tall. All of the glass in this estate was in three cupboards in the dining room. When we inspected the estate we were told former owners "collected old glass". Dissecting this, we determined that they DID "collect old glass" but did this by occasionally purchasing "OLD GLASS" from a local house sale, auction or community benefit sale. This salt and the other one we are listing were actually used by the family. At a later date, the family discerned that these were "valuable" (their word) and placed them "in the collection". The "Christmas" salt is named for the patented breaker lid found on many of the salts. This salt has the breaker lid but the breaker and the finial are long gone. The breaker lid was patented on Dec. 25, 1877 , hence the "Christmas". These little barrel salts were made in a rainbow of colors.
