The Art of Saul Lishinsky The artist Saul Lishinsky was born in 1922 in the USA from Russian Jewish immigrant parents. In the early part of his career he worked for the Federal Arts Project of the WPA. He had many shows in New York City, the last one at the Westbeth Gallery in 2006. The artist Raphael Soyer said of Lishinsky: "What impresses me about Saul Lishinsky's work is his awareness of our time-its artistic complexities, its dynamics and aesthetics. His interest in, and his understanding of the many trends in art today are reflected in his work which is fresh, colorful, personal and imaginative." Lishinsky still lives in NYC today. Lishinsky closed his studio at Westbeth in 2008. The contents of his studio are now being sold on this site and we will be listing many of his pencil sketches, ink drawings and watercolor paintings. All drawings are either signed or official stamp signed. Condition: See Photo for condition Drawing was photographed. Due to the lighting, in most cases the actual drawing is better than my photo.
