ANTIQUEVICTORIAN MAJOLICAPITCHER"CAN'T YOU TALK" PATTERNORIGINAL PATENT STAMPED PEWTER LID c1885I SHIP WORLDWIDE Being offered in this sale is a scarce Victorian Majolica pitcher with its original pewter lid. It measures 8" tall and is roughly 4 1/2" in diameter at its widest. You can find an example of this piece - without its original lid - illustrated in The Collector's Enyclopedia of Majolica by Katz-Marks on page 61. The pattern on either side feartures a young child and a dog. Inscribed in very faint letters beneath the scene is the phrase CAN'T YOU TALK. The cover is most interesting. It is marked on the top near the hinge, however, all I can make out are the words THOMPSON PATENT. Note how the thumbrest is inlaid with a small piece of glazed pottery. The condition is OUTSTANDING. T are absolutely no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or repairs of any kind. Finest possible example. If you collect majolica pitchers or syrups you will not be disappointed. Please feel free to email with any questions. I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. The last three images illustrate a number of other pieces that I am listing separately on Ebay. You are bidding on only the majolica pitcher in this sale. This piece is being sold without a reserve as long as t is an opening bid. High bidder to pay $8.00 shipping/ including read more
