RARE Collection of FLOW BLUE SCINDE PATTERN 9 1/2" BUTTER DISH BOWL SUPPER PLATE JOHN & GEORGE ALCOCK STAFFORDSHIRE ORIENTAL STONE 1842 CLASSIFICATION : FLOW BLUE, Dark deep coloring Piece Description : 12 PANEL SUPPER DINNER PLATE BUTTER BOWL DISH Size : Actual measurement is 9 1/2" rim to rim at widest point - Approx 1 1/8" table to rim - 6 3/4" x 1/2" deep center PATTERN: SCINDE Manufacturer : BLUE BACKSTAMP - Diamond Ellipse SCINDE pattern name in center - Impress marking - Oriental Stone J & G Alcock, Cobridge, Scinde plate by John & George Alcock, c. 1842. Scinde or Scind, in the lower Indus valley (now Pakistan) once was the autonomous province. After an 1842 campaign led by Sir Charles Napier, the Scind was annexed by Britan. John & George Alcock also produced a Napier pattern in Flow Blue J. & G. Alcock, Cobridge, Staffordshire impressed Mfg. Mark dating from 1839 - 1846.
