Sears, Roebuck and Co.SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. MILITARY EQUIPMENT CATALOGV.G. set of photocopied pages from the original catalog. THESE ARE JUST COPIES; the original catalog is very rare.Text is clean with no underlining or highlighting.Sears, Roebuck and Company1917-191820 pages. In WWI, American officers were required to buy their own uniforms and equipment and pay for it out of their own pockets. Typically a man would earn $100 a month during three months in officers's training and have to pay about $400 (more than he made!!) to outfit himself upon commission. (Uncle Sam was a cheapskate at the time!) This Sears catalog illustrates, describes, and prices military equipment of the time. Four pages are of officers' uniforms and clothing, one page of insignia, three pages of officers' gear including handguns, holsters, sabers, even the Colt machine gun!! One page has clothing for aviators, one page of uniforms for nurses, one page of junior military clothing, one page of socks and underwear, two pages of police and fireman gear, one page of military books and manuals, one page of equipment for camp such as tents, cots, and stoves. A COPY of a quite rare historical document with vital primary source material for WWI history. Cool for research.See my other items listed on eBay.
