This is the terrific Econolite, Motion Lamp from the Seattle World's Fair. It's one of the best designed of the many 1950s and early 1960s scenic motion lamps. As you can see, unfortunately, it has a slew of problems. First, however, the good stuff--it lights up and it looks very nice in a stationary position. You can have it on a table or shelf and see the Space Needle and the world's fair around it as shown in the pair of scans with the primarily blue colors. It has the insert on which the motion is based, but it doesn't appear that you can get it to turn because the back is brittle and broken. The photo makes the back look like it's the normal oval shape but it is not at all; the heat has given it some more little curls. But whether it has one curl or five, the back is out of shape and looks pretty bad and I can't see that it would turn--or that you would want it too. My guess is it will only gently turn inside if it's completely in the perfect shape front and back. But you do have a very attractive static lamp. And, the price is definitely better than the $300 minimum you would read more
