Beautiful Selkirk Paperweight made in the small town of Selkirk, Scotland "Selkirk Glass LTD" . Peter Holmes and Ron Hutchinson were the inspiration behind Selkirk Glass . However, the story of Selkirk Glass goes back much further in time to a chance encounter with Paul Ysart, who in 1962 had met 15 year old Peter Holmes. Paul Ysart was the training officer for Caithness Glass , and, in 1963, Paul invited Peter Holmes to join him at Caithness as an apprentice glass blower. Peter is one of the few artists allowed to assist Paul in the making of some of his more delicate paperweights. Not to many people in the world worked quite as close with Paul as Peter did. This is a neat swirl weight with lots of movement. The base starts out like a 3 blade propeller and then twist upward into a wirl wind of movement where at the top there is one large bubble and tiny little bubbles moving around it. It is like it is in constant motion. Beautiful color of white and cobalt. This weight is signed and dated 2002 - perfect condition - 3 1/8" diameter, 2 3/4" tall.
