A stunning quality set of 6 large dinner napkins of Dutch origin with the trade mark /name of a dutch shipping line woven in the damask . This set of six napkins look as though they have had little use and are all dated 1939 ( woven into damask along the edge ) they are off white almost bone colour and would I think wash whiter with a couple of boil washes . There are no marks , iron mould ,thin areas or holes . Each napkin measures a generous 23.5 by 21.5 inches with 2 selve edges and two hemmed edges , there is a beautiful art nouveau design of poppies woven in the damask and a central woven cartouche with the words ' N.V. STOOMVAART -MAATSCHAPPIJ - NEDERLAND ' and a monogram which looks like an M an N and an S . These superb napkins would grace any table and are bound to be a talking point .
