From a church in Aix En Provence, France, we offer this exquisite and unique altar table fragment from the 1800s. Measuring 23" tall x 20.5" wide x 12.25" deep, it is entirely hand made of a dense wood overlayed with applied gesso decoration with the original polychrome and gilt still visible.This is shabby chic at its' best and is suitable for a variety of uses. With a heavy piece of bevelled glass on top, it would make a unique and beautiful coffee table. We used it on its' own as a side table and it has consistently been the first piece of furniture which guests have commented on. In over 30 years of decorating, I have never seen anything like it. We have left the chippy finish entirely alone, so it comes in its' original, alligatored condition with touches of the original gilt peeking through and t The piece is truly spectacular and would be equally at home in a garden or inside. We have listed it as pickup only, but will certainly accomodate the winning bidder in any way we can to facilitate your movers.
