Shelley Potteries Ltd Fine Bone China "Dainty White" 6 piece place setting + extra 27 pieces in all Part of this lovely tea service was a wedding present to my grandmother in the 1920's. It was her pride and joy and she added to it over the years. she passed it to my mother when she died and it has been stored ever since. Now my mother has moved to a smaller house, she does not have the room to keep all her china, hence this auction. The set was made at Shelley Potteries Foley Works, in Longton, Staffordshire and the design is the simple but beautiful "Dainty White" pattern. All the pieces are very fine, white porcelain, very delicate and pretty. The pattern is scalloped to create a flower petal effect when the cup is placed on the saucer and then on a plate. The embossed detail continues throughout the set as shown on the photographs. The set consists of: 6 x cups 3" tall 3" across rim 1.75" base 6 x saucers 5" 6 x plate (1) 7" 6 x plate (2) 8" 1 x milk jug 3.5" tall 4.5" lip to handle 2" base 1 x sugar bowl 5" across 2.75" tall 1 x small dish 6" across widest point 1 x larger dish 8" across widest point (All measurements approximate but close) The backstamp on all the items is a shield containing "Shelley" over "England" All the cups, the jug, sugar bowl, dishes and some of the plates have the registered read more
