Shure Brothers MicrophoneControlled Reluctance99A865-49 Date Code This Shure Brothers Inc. Microphone is the small desktop model that was made starting in 1949. It has the "hammered" gunmetal gray paint that has a bluish-green tint to it. It is a "Controlled Reluctance Transducer" model. This mic does not have the model number stamped on the back. The code is "5-49" which should mean that the microphone was manufactured in May of 1949. On the top side of the transducer, there is a white sticker label that has the Shure Brothers Incorporated name with the relevant patent numbers. (See photos)I tested the impedance on my VTVM and the dial read approximately 1380.The cable is approximately 6' 6" long and has the mono 1/4" phone plug on the end that has the old style rounded tip. I removed the black electrical tape and I am leaving this connector as it is.I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that this mic has never been opened up until today. There was hardened black sealant around the lip of the housing where read more
