Painting of Orthodox Jews dancing with their torahs on Simchat TorahWatercolor (and perhaps pastel) by Simon Natan Karczmar (1903 - 1982)Karczmar was born in Warsaw Poland. He moved to Paris in 1929 and lived in France until 1950. He was in hiding during World War II. He lived in Montreal in the 1950s and moved to Israel in 1963. He lived in the artist's colony in Safed. He died in 1982.He specialized in painting shtetl scenes which he drew from memories of his childhood.The drawing is 5.5 x 7 inches and 17 x 16 inches in the frame. The frame is a custom frame.Excellent condition. Ready to hang
