This early adze axe is in very good shape. The blade has lots of length remaining. Should you choose it would tune up to an excellent user without a lot of honing. T is no problem pitting. T are no cracks anyw It has a nice hand shaped handle which is still solid. T are no cracks or chips to the handle. It slides around in the head a little but it can't come out. T is no reason it couldn't be wedged to fit tight if this is going to be used. A long time ago someone neatly fitted wedges but I guess it has dried out and shrunk over the years. The shape of the poll seems a little unusual. On most the poll is either more squared off or much pointier(like in a ship adze for example). The cutting edge is 3 1/8" wide. It weighs 2 3/4 pounds overall. The handle is about 24 1/2" long. Given the shorter length of the handle and slightly smaller than average head I'm guessing this was intended for use by a youth. Not that an adult woodworker wouldn't find it handy. It might make a nice light weight smaller adze for certain situations. It's an interesting example for a collector but it's still very usable. I'm offering it with no reserve. If you're not happy with it I'll refund your money less shipping. I can ship it UPS ground or via the Post Office with Priority Mail shipping. Insurance is extra and it's your choice. Buyer assumes responsibility read more
