A Small Maine Apple Basket in Early Persimmon Paint This small apple basket is from a farm in Monticello, Maine. It dates to the latter part of the 19th century. It was a working basket, as evidence by the wear in the photographs. The early persimmon paint is an overcoat of an earlier pewter gray.
