This listing is for a vintage commemorative medal for the "First Lunar Landing, July 20, 1969." The medal shows an image in bas relief of an astronaut holding an American flag, with the earth in the background and the space craft used on the mission. On the reverse side, the medal says "Apollo 11" in bold grahpics, with an image of the earth and moon. The famous quote from that day is imprinted on the medal "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Around the edge of the medal, are the names of the three astronauts who were on that mission: Michael Collins, Edwin Aldrin, Neil Armstrong. The medal 1 1/4 inch in diameter, made of a silvertone medal with ridges around the edge. The detail is terrific. The medal was made by L.G. Balfour, Co. in Attleboro, MA, a company known for producing high quality class rings. This medal is in mint condition, in the original 2" plastic box with clear cover that it came in (not shown). It belongs to my mom who is a big fan of space exploration. She no longer has use for it, and would like it to go to someone who will appreciate it. I am listing 2 other space related items this week and I would be happy to combine shipping on mulitple items won. Please e mail me at the end of the auction and I will send one invoice with the adjusted shipping charge. This item will be packaged
