Up for auction from personal collectionis a painting of sparrows on the limbs of a tree in winter by ODAKE KOKKAN (1880-1945). It is signed and sealed Kokkan and comes in its original box. The box is signed and sealed by Kokkan too. Kokkan was a pupil of Kawabata Gyokusho and a frequent exhibitor and prize winner at the Bunten. The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo has his painting on display. It is painted on paper and in pretty good condition. T is a tiny hole on the top of the broacade and and three inch splits on top left at the slat and on the bottom right at the roller respectly. One of the hanging bands ( futai ) on the right is broken as can be seen in the pic. These minor defects on the mounting do not affect the painting itself. The painting itself is in good condition with no rips or tears. The size is 16 1/4 x 77 1/2 inches, the painted area is 11 1/2 x 48 1/4 inches. I prefer online I also accept money orders, cashiers's checks and personal checks. Personal checks will have to clear before shipping. $12 for shipping via USPS Priority Mail within the United States. International shipping charges will be quoted and insurance is extra and optional.
