All pieces (and the board) are made of a heavy resin-like material. Very substantial and solid. The board itself is quite heavy for the size, and is about 15 X 15 inches in size. Italian sculptor Paolo Chiari is known for his whimsical yet spooky chess sets. This chess set, bought about eight years ago, is currently out of print - I am selling mine at a great discount. The board alone is worth 40 dollars, and the set is about 50 bucks. Here is your chance to get a collectors item for a steep discount. All pieces appear to be of fired clay and are in perfect shape- please note that one of the rat pawns has a missing nose bulb- very tiny, and came from the factory that way. It is barely noticible, but I want to bring any flaws to your attention. A fine looking set in mint condition, which I bought brand new and only played once or twice before storage, ready to be displayed (and played!) by you and yours! In the coming months I will be selling many board games, some of them rare and all of them complete and ready to play!
