I am offering a c1830 William Ridgway brown transferware platter in "Persian" pattern. The rim is decorated with a fan and shell floral border. In the central scene on the right of the well of the platter is a huge urn brimming with flowers and foliage. To the left is a fishing boat with sails. T are four fisherman on the boat with a net in the water. T is a town with temples, buildings and hills in the background. This scene differs from what Petra Williams describes in her book on romantic Staffordshire. The platter measures 12 1/2 inches by 10 1/4 inches. No chips. cracks, hairlines or restorations. Clearly marked on the back with the old Ridgway mark of an urn and beehive with "Persian" and "WR". Very lightly crazed. Kiln marks. You can see utensil marks in the well of the platter when you hold it horizontally near a light source. T are also three small rusty looking spots just above the trees. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping and insurance. Bidders not in the USA Payment within 7 days please.
