B-17 Description You are viewing a most attractive example of teaware from a bygone age We are offering a pretty tea trio with matching bread plate Crafted By: Unmarked Staffordshire Origin: England Date: circa 1885 Example from the: Victorian era Colourway: White Moulded Pattern: China Bouquet - bold floral decoration Rim: Gilded Measurements Teacup: 2+1/2 inches in height. Saucer: 5+3/4 inches in diameter. Plate: 6 inches in diameter. Bread Plate: 9 inches across. Condition Report There are no chips and no cracks. Crazing. Some rubbing to the gilding. Staining to the base of the bread plate. Background Information: The custom of drinking tea became a British institution when the Victorians took to serving it every afternoon in the parlour - until 1800 it had been customary to drink tea after dinner. This custom was to continue well into the 1930s when coffee became the vogue for the middle to upper classes.
