* STATE OF ISRAEL Jerusalem Map Jewish 1948 Newspaper * is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, California, May 23, 1948 * On Israeli statehood : struggle for Palestine The front page features a very nice map of: "Jerusalem" with front page headlines reading: "The Struggle For Palestine--U.S. Consul Slain by Sniper in Jerusalem; RAF Shoots Down Four Egyptian Fighters" and other related subheads. This issue covers the turbulent days from just after the state of Israel was recognized by the United States on May 14. This is the complete first section with pages 1-12. Very nice, clean condition.
