i000000ANTIQUE CASED DAGUERREOTYPE OF A STRIKING YOUNG WOMAN WEARING A GILT BROACH, IN ORIGINAL FULL "AMITIE" CASE, WITH ORNATE GRAPEVINE MOTIF.Circa late 1840s/1850, [No Photographer], from the Oneida/Madison County, Cazenovia, NY area, from the estate of the Roderick & Lucy Blakeslee White family [see White, 'Memorials of Roderick White and his Wife Lucy Blakeslee of Paris Hill, NY 1632-1892'].Sixth-plate daguerreotype (measuring 3.25 by 2.75 inches), beveled gilt mat, cover glass, in original full embossed leather "Amitie" case, with ornate grapevine motif, metal clasp intact.Some very slight darkening to the image at lower edge, otherwise the daguerreotype and case are in near fine condition, with only the slightest wear.A pleasing image of a confident young woman, engaging the camera. It has very sharp focus & excellent contrast.This daguerreotype is part of a large family archive of daguerreotypes and ambrotypes of the Roderick & Lucy Blakeslee White family, and their children and extended family, including a few more of Aaron White and his family. Many are identified and dated, from the 1840s, 1850s and early 1860s. Many are from the Cazenovia, New York and Oneida County area.
