These are very rare and unique sulphide cameo portrait paperweights, mint in the original box. Made in France in 1975 for The Franklin Mint to celebrate the American Bicentennial. Each paperweight measures about 72mm in diameter and 45mm high. Louis XVI is etched with the Baccarat hallmark on the bottom and weighs 501 grams while Benjamin Franklin is etched with the Cristalleries d'Albret hallmark and weighs 442 grams (out of the box). The sulphide portraits are remarkably detailed! Each piece is in flawless original condition and both rest in the original satin-lined Franklin Mint box. The royal blue velvet box is in near mint condition, showing only light shelf wear. Please note that the paperweights were extremely difficult to photograph; the camera caught the cameo sulphides through the various facets of the crystal.Optional insurance is included in the Ebay invoice I send. Shipping includes cost of packing materials. Payment is due within 7 days. Thank you!
