The painting is by the well respected 20th century painter Henry Raeburn Dobson (1901-1985) and is signed to the left hand side. The portrait, oval in shape, shows this stunning half length portrait of a young lady, identified as Miss Leslie Lever-Tilletson, seated in a blue dress. Painted with great depth and quality and against the darker background her features really stand out. The frame is period and of excellent quality and the portrait itself is in good condition bar some light scuffs and marks and a couple of small nicks to the canvas. An exemplary painting, clearly by this superior portrait painter of the period and a very fine example of early 20th century British portraiture. Of interest, this painting went through Christies Auction in London in November 2012 carrying an auction estimate of £1500 - £2000. Provenance: Private Collection, London; ex.
