Beautiful hand colored albumen photograph of the end of the 19° century realized by Shin-ichi SUZUKI (1835/1918). SUZUKI worked with WIRGMAN in 1869 and SHIMOOKA Renjo in 1870 during 7 years. Then he installed itself to Nagoya in 1876. To complete his knowledge he went to USA (I.W.Taber at San Francisco) for one year and opened a studio at Kudanzaka (Tokio) in 1881. He photographed the Emperor and Empress Medji in 1888. It especially realized photos on the different trades of Japan. he possessed a succursalle to Masago-cho (Yokohama) The photos of this artist are recognizables by the fact that they are numbered in the negative in amount handwritten to the western one and in japaneseThis photo represents the Sorin tower of Rinoji Temple in Nikko used to stand with the Sanbutsudo in Futarasan Shrine, but due to the order for separation of Buddhism and Shintoism, the Sorin tower was moved in 1875, and the Sanbutsudo in 1881, to Rinoji Temple. The Sorin tower is a memorial tower built by order of Shogun Iemitsu w many scriptures were stored. The two lanterns in front of the Sorin tower were donated by the thread tally union (itowappu nakama)..
