ESCORCIA, MATL DESIGN, Mexican Coral, Turquoise and Amethyst Silver Pendant Cross . Amazing, Fully Marked, Vintage. This pendant cross was made in Taxco . It was crafted in the Escorcia Mexican workshop which is known for its great quality in the manufacture of this kind of jewelry. The designs were inspired in those made by Matl. It has a rich cultural background like that of the Mexican traditions. It is known that the silver of Taxco is internationally recognized for its purity and extraordinary artistic qualities. Also it is made with a purer alloy of silver, 950. This has the advantage that will not oxidize as sterling 925 does, and also has a softer patina. In all the workshops, silversmith was almost entirely done by hand. This is an amazing cross based on the designs of Matl, it is worked with applied wire and embossing. This piece has sixty turquoise beads, fourteen coral beads and seven cabochon amethysts in its composition. On the middle of it has a cabochon amethyst which is surrounded by torched wire, four silver beads and four rows of three turquoise cabochons. On the arms, this piece has symmetrically disposed the rest of the beads and the cabochon amethysts . Three amethyst cabochons on the lower part and one on each upper arm.
