The film starred Harold Lloyd, Una Merkel, George Barbier, Nat Pendleton, and Fuzzy Knight. The film was directed by Sam Taylor. The hand colored glass slide is ORIGINAL. It is NOT a reproduction, or commercial item available to the general public. It was created to be projected on the movie theatre screen before the film was released, to promote the "coming attraction". The fragility of glass slides make those that have survived (especially those in excellent condition) very rare pieces of film history. Surviving glass slides are much rarer than the paper poster memorabilia from the same film. Recently, t have been other sellers on eBay who have been selling glass slides as ORIGINAL, when they are RE-RELEASE slides. Please be assured that I ALWAYS research my listings, and accurately describe what they are. I will NEVER list a re-release item as original. If I am not 100% certain an item is original, I will state that it is, or may be, a re-release item. T's nothing wrong with re-release items, but bidders should know exactly what they are buying. STUDIO Fox Film GENRE Comedy DATE 1934The glass slide is ORIGINAL. It is NOT a reproduction, or commercial item available to the general public. It was created to be projected on the movie theatre screen before the film was released, to promote the "coming attraction". OVERALL CONDITION Fine CONDITION DEFECTS The glass slide is "framed" by the standard cardboard frame, which is in excellent condition. The glass pane, and graphic design are outstanding. The bottom, playdate area is unmarked. T are NO scratches, chips, cracks, water damage, or fading. T has been NO restoration or cleaning. The colors are richer and brighter, and the contrast is sharper, than the poor JPEG images suggest. Any glare, or reflection on the JPEG showing the entire slide is from the digital camera flash. It is NOT on the glass slide. Be aware that the JPEGS you are viewing are likely considerably larger than the actual glass slide, and consequently, any flaws or imperfections are magnified. WHAT IS A GLASS SLIDE? Glass slides were first made during the early 1910s. They were used to show "previews" of coming attractions, and were projected before the films began, and between films of double feature presentations. They continued to be made through the early 1950s, but were used much less frequently after movie trailers began to be shown in the 1930s. Glass slides continued to be produced and used in New Zealand through the 1980s. T are two different, standard types of Glass Slides. One type consists of two panes of glass, each measuring 3 1/4" by 4". One pane of glass holds the emulsion which creates the graphic image. The second pane is completely clear, and merely protects the first pane from potential damage.
