A Selection of Popular National Airs, with Symphonies and Accompaniments by Sir John Stevenson Mus Doc and Henry R Bishop, the Words by Thomas Moore, Esq.. Vol I. London, J Power [1818-20 or later]. Size: 10 x 13 inches, pagination: [8], 113, with engraved title page and dedication leaf, 4 engraved plates and engraved music throughout, bound in contemporary half red roan morocco, rubbed and a little worn but sound, internally very good. FIRST OR EARLY EDITION, the first volume in the series made up of the first two numbers bound together, printed from music plate no 356; subsequently 4 more parts were issued up to 1828, making 6 in all. This work did much to popularize national and folk music in arrangement for drawing room performance.
