The set consists of a hand blown intaglio cut in rare berry (appears to be blackberry) pattern handled pitcher with 8 accompanying footed tumblers. The technique employed in the are glass is Louis Comfort Tiffany's patented Gold Aurene, Favrile iridescent art glass technique invented and produced by Louis Comfort Tiffany, preeminent American art glass artist (1848-1943). The cut and engraved design incorporates segmented berries instead of smooth grapes and a tri-form serrated leaf formation, but also adds an artistic tendril similar to a grape vine. The pattern is similar to the Registered pattern in the Queen and Prince Registered patterns which incorporated the very desirable (to collectors) grape vine intaglio design; circa 1893-1910, produced at sometime between the early period of the Tiffany Studios, which spanned 1892-1900 and the middle peak period from 1900-1918. Favrile was first produced in 1893. By 1918 pastel colors and the numbering system were predominate. All Pieces in the set are in excellent condition with no damage. The pitcher measures 8 3/8" by 5" base. The tumblers are individually hand blown and have slight differences measuring 4" in height. All pieces are signed on their base "L. C. Tiffany-Favrile". The tumblers are unusual in that each goblet is fully intaglio cut and engraved to match the pitcher. The read more
