Up for auction is a vintage tin friction racer made by Masudaya of Japan. It measures 5 3/4 inches or almost 15 centimeters long and it is complete and original. The race car is in excellent, lightly played with condition. The paint and graphics are in excellent, all original condition. The surface of the tin has an terrific gloss. The chrome trim has been polished to a nice shine and the base is also in excellent condition. The tires are in great shape and the friction motor works very well. The race car isn't perfect, there are a few small scratches in the paint and the driver's head looks to have faded a bit. Also, the front grill is a little rougher around the edges than the rest of the metal trim. This is an interesting racer made by that great tin toy maker Masudaya. I have seen this race car with this driver's head and also with a different, more conventional head. I have also seen the racer with a number of different color hubcaps, different color bases and also a different set up for the front axle. On this racer, there is a rectangular piece of tin covering both sides of the front axle, (see photo #12.) Each racer is beautiful is its own way. The version with the other head is pictured on page 105 of the terrific reference book about Masudaya called Modern Toys From Japan. Thanks for looking!!!!Questions are welcome and read more
