TIN FRICTION Supercharged 1957 Chevy Corvette 9.25" EXC Up for auction is a 9.25" long tin friction powered 1957 Chevrolet Corvette hard top. This supercharged hot rod Vette is in excellent 100% original condition with all parts intact. It has a very strong friction motor as well. These magnificent cars were made by an undisclosed manufacturer in 1990s China. They are an excellent value and other than the Marusan 1957 Cadillac Eldorado, I think it is the best tin friction car to come out of China by far. Incredible detail includes correct detailed plastic interior, clear plastic headlights, amber front turn signals, red tail lights and five spoke American daisy style mag wheels. Even the lowered stance of the car is perfect. The best part about it though is the huge blower with injectors and bug catcher scoop sticking out of the hood. Very interesting also is the early 1970s California blue license plate with lettering of BBU 507. Obviously initials for B lew B y Y ou (in reference to drag racing) and the number 507 could refer to a 507 cubic inch engine, although I think it should be more correctly 502 ci. Actually, if this car was based on a 1970s hot rod Corvette, the motor of choice would be a 427 or the 454 big block. I remember one local yocal back in the '70s street racing
