This tiny salt dip is shown as #1903 in the collector's guide, "5,000 Open Salts," by William Heacock and Patricia Johnson. Made of porcelain, it stands 1/2" tall and measures 1 1/4" wide. The cream-colored glaze has the delicate crackle finish which is typical of traditional Japanese Satsuma porcelain. T are pink and red irises painted inside the bowl, and all are accented in gold. The bottom is signed with a Japanese character, and this piece is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips or flakes. Buyer pays winning bid plus $2.00 postage in the USA...a bit more to other parts of the world.
