A tiny hand-held prayer wheel, measuring about 3 inches long, this handmade Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel has a row of delicate brass metal Sanskrit circling the wheel, against a silver metal background. It spells out "Om Mani Padme Hung", the Tibetan Buddhist meditation prayer. A coral and a turquoise glass bead accent the wheel. The handle is a shiny copper metal with a fine brass line spiralling up it. There is a paper prayer inside the wheel, too. The wheel is spun by the weight of a brass weight that pulls the wheel in a clock-wise rotation. The belief is that as the wheel spins, the prayers float outwards and upwards. This type of prayer wheel is still in use in Nepal today. This beautiful prayer wheel is new and unused, and easily fits in a pocket or purse.
