COLLECTIBLE-EXPRESS PROUDLY PRESENTS VINTAGE "PIONEER" OR "TIPPECANOE" OR "WESTAWARD HO" PATTERN FROSTED PRESSED GLASSCLOSED COMPOTE *************** STRAIGHT FROM ESTATE LIQUIDATION: *************************************** Straight out of a posh Park Ave estate liquidation we are pleased to show you this classic Wild West motif American pressed glass closed compote, in a pattern that was originally known as "Pioneer", but later became known variously as "Tippecanoe" or "Westward Ho". The piece is in pristine MINT condition. Not a chip, crack, fleabite, smudge or speck. Simply perfect!The pattern features a leaping deer, a buffalo, a log cabin, and a crouching Indian finial surrounded by Native American symbols on top. It definitely evokes the spirit of the Wild West. It was immediately successful when it first appeared, shortly after the American Centennial celebration of 1876. Its popularity endured, and it was later reproduced by Burlington Glass Works from molds they either copied or purchased from the United States Glass Company. Little is really known about what they actually produced or how American patterns came to be t, since many of the patterns identified as Burlington were identified by shards and remnants excavated at the original factory site, and no catalogues have ever been discovered.
