The 1980s turned out to be the second golden age in Jaguar's motor sports history. For about thirty years, the Jaguar company had not been directly involved in racing but this changed dramatically during the years after the privatisation of 1984 with Sir John Egan as Chief Executive. Now in partnership with Tom Walkinshaw's TWR company, Jaguar at last made a triumphant return to long distance sports car racing. The years which followed brought many victories. Most famously, Jaguar returned to Le Mans and won this historic race on two occasions to add to the five wins of the 1950s, but there were also two victories in the other classic twenty four hour race at Daytona in the U.S.A. Most significantly, on three occasions, Jaguar won the World Championship for sports car prototypes. This book by Leslie F. Thurston is the detailed story of the Jaguar TWR racing cars. There is an overview and an introduction to the cars, each race entered is described in detail and the history of each individual chassis is fully recorded. Illustrated with 220 colour photographs, this superb book published by The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Limited, Coventry, in 2003 details the changes made to the cars over the years.
