This Large and Unique designed Old German Cuckoo clock was fount at a recent private estate sale (Please view the pictures below). This Cuckoo clock is very unique and possibly rare to find. The clock was commissioned by the New England Clock Company Bristol , Conn. USA to be made in Germany. The unusual design of the clock's case was created from a thick richly grained Redish Brown wood and measures an impressive 24" from top finial to bottom of pendulum with a width of 15" at the widest point. The case was very artistically designed to depict a European Mountain Chalet complete with a sharp pitched and slanted roof . The very peak of the roof displays a wooden piece with a hole in it and a pointed spiral final on top. The sides of the Chalet are scalloped with carved pieces supporting the outer roof. The lower front of the case has a geometric shaped piece that extends outward from the rest of the case. The large face of the clock is very lovely in design with painted flowers and a Cuckoo bird at the top. The face is numbered in Roman numerals and is marked as follow ; "THE AMERICAN CUCKOO BIRD TRADEMARK NEW ENGLAND CLOCK CO. BRISTOL, CONN.". The hands are also very decorative in design. The little door at the top is w the Cuckoo bird comes out of and coo coos once on the half hour and on the hour as many times needed for the time of day. The bottom of the case displays two large metal pine cone shaped weights that hang from Brass chains. Behind these weights is a carved wooden pendulum that swings back and forth as the clock runs. The back of the clock has a wooden access door marked 'Germany' and still maintains the original paper that reads " TCCC 1962 DESIGNED BY TORNQUIST THE NEW ENGLAND CLOCK CO BRISTOL CONN". The movement of the clock is of the finest quality . It runs for 8 days and powered by the two large metal weights. The movement is marked 'HUBERT HERR TRIBERG GERMANY". The overall condition is superb with no defects that I can see anyw The clock runs great and the cuckoo bird also works great. I will keep my price very low for some lucky person and remember this auction is for only 3 days, so place your bids early. Buyer to pay shipping costs. Money order , cashiers check or Thanks for viewing.
