This is a US Army message center clock in an oak carrying case, designed to be used in a message center set up in field conditions. Dial is marked, "US Army, clock, message center, M2." Note the extra red hour hand. Normally, the conventional hands were set for Greenwich mean time, the time which was used on all messages, and the red hand was set to designate local time. Both the fitted oak case and the clock itself are in near mint condition.
