US Army Special Forces troopers deployed to Vietnam in the 1960s in uniforms unsuited for the vicious guerilla war they faced. They were allowed great leeway in their choice of uniform for wear in the field. Many chose to wear ARVN uniforms, for as casualties began to mount, it became obvious that the VC were targeting American advisors. As stated in PW Miraldi's classic work on the subject, US advisors began blending in with the ARVN troops they advised. This advisor's commercially made jacket is in a camouflage very close to ARVN Ranger leaf camo. ARVN Rangers were the fire brigade of the S. Vietnamese forces, shifted continually to w the fighting was hardest and the danger most grave. They were renowned for their elan and courage, and it was courage they would need in fifteen years of almost continuous combat. One side of the jacket is in the green dominant wet season ARVN leaf camo usually worn, and on the other side is the brown dominant dry season variant of the same camouflage. The jacket is in excellent, near mint condition, with an open top patch pocket on the left chest, and two slant entry patch pockets at the hem. Size Small, and constructed of 100% cotton medium weight twill. A great relic of "Uncle Sam in Vietnam". Click Double your traffic. Try Vendio Gallery Risk FREE!
